Guidance and Counselling Cell

A healthy mind and spirit along with a fit body is of prime significance to lead a happy life. The well-being of its stakeholders has always been a priority of Vasant Kanya Mahavidyalaya. With the primary intent to address the emotional requirements and to help resolve the psychological issues therein, the College established the Guidance and Counselling Cell in 2000. The Cell caters to diverse socio-economic and cultural challenges, specific emotional needs, and psychological needs of its stake holders. Members of the Guidance and Counseling Cell provide individual counselling at the College. The members pay attention to each student compassionately and help them to come to terms with their tribulations through reflection and self-awareness. It guides the students of the College to enhance their overall personality and ensures that every student wears a smile on her face after the counseling session. This cell also assists students in learning difficulties, enhancing harmonious relationship, behavioral development and adjustment problems. Helmed by a team of dedicated faculty members and with adequate and timely support from the administration, the Cell has been working towards facilitating personal well-being of the students.

The Counselling Cell functions in co-ordination with the Placement Cell to advise students for career oriented problems and issues and provide solutions to them.

The objectives and mission of the cell are as follows:

  • To encourage empathy and interpersonal skills to foster healthy relationships.

  • To enable them to acknowledge their strength and overcome weaknesses.
  • To recognize the cognitive and affective needs of students.
  • To impart informed methods and perspectives to deal with such problems.
